90WA, 90WS "Notions of sandalwood, dried herbs, meat, underbrush, blueberry, and blackberry lead to a full-bodied, voluptuous, concentrated wine with succulent fruit, good balance, and several years of aging potential. Drink this lengthy effort from 2015 to 2024." - Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, 90 points!
"Dark and muscular in style, with loam, roasted coffee and dark fig notes backed by more tar, tobacco and black cherry. Shows solid depth, with nicely buried acidity driving the finish. This has range and character." - Wine Spectator, 90 points!
"Intense plum red in color with violet notes. The nose expresses aromas of ripe red fruits, plums, berries, and black fruits, elegantly integrated with spicy and earthy notes and a touch of sweet vanilla. The palate is well balanced and has remarkable volume with good structure and soft, well-rounded tannins. The wine has tremendous intensity, complexity, and character. Recommended for cellaring." - Winery

Rafael and José Guilisasti were visionaries in the late 1990s when they saw that the market was beginning to change and that consumers worldwide were becoming more aware of the products they were consuming, not only for health reasons, but also with respect to their social and environmental impacts. They therefore asked winemaking consultant Alvaro Espinoza to join them in the process of converting a conventional Chilean winery into one that was 100% organic and biodynamic with the firm objective of creating wines of the highest quality with great respect for nature. The search began to find the best valleys for each varietal in order to make wines with excellent quality and personality. Viña Santa Emiliana S.A. was founded as a result, and soon positioned itself as one of the best varietal wineries in the country. Now, after more than a decade, what began as a dream has become a complete portfolio of wines backed by major national and international awards and recognition and that meet the new need of today’s consumers.
This emblematic wine faithfully represents Emiliana’s philosophy in which organic and biodynamic agriculture inspire our work and help us obtain the essence of our vineyards and the maximum expression of terroir. The name "Coyam" means "Chilean Oak" for the Mapuches, the original inhabitants of central and southern Chile. Ancient oaks surround the vineyard where Coyam is born.
